The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts is proud and honored to present its annual Start with Art, Learn for Life: The Annual Area Youth Art Exhibition and Take a Closer Look: Photographs from ART Kids with an opening reception on Sunday, February 19 from 2-4 pm at LCVA! The works will remain on view in LCVA’s Lower Level until March 26, 2017. LCVA would like to thank the very generous support of Southside Electric Cooperative, the Walter J. Payne Foundation, the TR June H. Guthrie Trust, and the Rock Foundation for helping to make this exhibition possible for the students.
Longwood Center for the Visual Arts statement: “Prince Edward County Elementary School art teachers Joy Utzinger and Carol Edmonson are currently hard at work installing an amazing display in our Main Street Gallery here at the L.C.V.A. Created for our “Start With Art, Learn For Life: Annual Area Youth Art Month Exhibition.” “Monty Mania” features the work of over 900 elementary students based on the abstract murals of Virginia native and Longwood University alumnus, Monty Montgomery ’98.”
Thank you so much to Joy, Cricket, the talented kids, and the L.C.V.A. for all your energy and efforts bringing this display to life! I am very honored and can’t wait to be there with all of you on Sunday! Please join us from 2-4 pm on February 19 for the opening of “Take a Closer Look: Photographs from ART Kids” and “Monty Mania”.
