Upcoming “Lines and Circles” exhibition at “The Gallery” in Whistler, B.C. opening on July 17, 2017 8-11pm

Posted on June 19, 2017

I will be making the drive up the Pacific Coast into beautiful Whistler, British Columbia in early July for the opening of “Circles and Lines” at “The Gallery” at the Arts Centre in downtown Whistler on July 17, 2017 8-11pm. I will be the featured “Guest Artist” and will display all new works along side six other talented Artists from the Whistler area. I am truly looking forward to this journey into B.C. for my very first exhibition in Canada.

“The Gallery” at Maury Young Arts Centre is Whistler’s community gallery, showcasing work from talented artists and artisans from the Sea to Sky region. Stop by and check out the latest art exhibit and take home something truly unique from the Gift Shop. “The Gallery” is  located in the heart of Whistler village, across from the Olympic rings.

Each of the shows is celebrated with an opening event. See each new exhibit, mingle with friends, sip craft beer and cocktails, and listen to live music and artist talks. Make sure to follow “The Gallery” on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to hear about all of the  upcoming events and openings.

Each piece on display at the Arts Centre is available for purchase, with the majority of the sale revenue going directly to the artist, and a portion going toward Whistler Arts Council programs. Every time you purchase something from the Arts Centre, you are helping to support Whistler’s local artists and artisans, and contributing to a vibrant and healthy arts scene in Whistler.

ABOUT THE GALLERY

Whistler’s only community gallery, this space is open to everyone and boasts an ongoing, open call for artists, whose work is often incorporated into group shows. The Gallery supports and hosts the work of primarily local artists, but also includes work by national and international artists. Year-round exhibits include accessible artwork that covers a variety of genres, art mediums and subject matter, from lighthearted celebrations of mountain culture to important social issues.

The Gallery offers diverse exhibitions that showcase and sell the work of emerging and established artists, and that engage Whistler’s residents and visitors in an ongoing dialogue about issues and ideas through the medium of artistic interpretation.

"Current" mural at Childrens Hospital of Richmond and "Past" "LIVE" mural at the Virginia Children’s Book Festival October 13-15 2016 in Farmville, Virginia at Longwood University

Posted on May 22, 2017

It was an honor to be back at my Alma Mater, Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia to participate in the 2016 Virginia Children’s Book Festival. I collaborated with my great  friend, TODD PARR! Todd is a San Francisco Bay Area children’s author and illustrator, who reveals about himself, ‘I like fog. I like the sea lions and the dolphins. I like to paint. My favorite color is blue. My favorite food is macaroni and cheese.’ The VCBF is pleased to have Parr return for the third year and I am so honored to work beside this amazing human being!

BeWhoYouAreMuralWebnews

VCBFPoster2016Web

Over the three day festival we created a “LIVE” mural using many of Todd’s characters combined with a feel of my various series of works. The coolest part of this mural is that the kids and adults at the festival created with us! A total group effort which will bring a positive message for our youth and be filled with amazing energy for everyone! The “LIVE” collaborative mural came to life in the main gallery of Bedford Hall October 13th through 15th on the Longwood University campus. The mural was displayed at Centra Southside Community Hospital for a couple months and will now be dedicated to Virginia’s children at it’s permanent home, the Children’s Hospital of Richmond. It was so awesome creating with kids from all over the map. The VCBF is always looking for helping hands, physically and financially. Their mission, as Juanita Giles, executive director, reminds us ‘is to create a culture of literacy in our region in particular and our Commonwealth at large.

Posted on May 7, 2017

It was a blast working with the Design 1, Art 101 students of San Diego State University as a visiting guest artist through the “ARTS ALIVE” program at SDSU. On November 3, 2014 from 10am to 2pm we worked together on various benches on the Faculty/Staff Patio. I started a “Fractal” style process and then the students took over the project and completed eight other benches over time throughout the campus. Thanks to David Fobes, Dani Bedau, Stephanie Burns,  and the SDSU creatives for having me as a visiting artist at San Diego State University.

"Past" Solo exhibit at ETNIA on Friday, April 15, 2016 in Atenas, Alajuela Costa Rica

Posted on January 15, 2016

Over a two week period eleven original works came to life at the “Jungle Studio” to be exhibited at ETNIA in Atenas, Alajuela, Costa Rica. The opening was on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 5-10pm. Camilo Garavito is a great new friend and the owner of ETNIA. He featured a “LIVE” band with local musicians along with tapas and homemade sangria through opening night for all whom attended. ETNIA became one of my favorite spots on my first journey to Atenas in November 2015 when I completed the newest “Nature Series” mural, “Moment #16” in the mathematics classroom with the students at New Summit Academy. I’m honored to announce that all eleven paintings have found new homes in Atenas. It was amazing to be there to create, exhibit, and spend time with the community!

29 San Diego artists present their non-figurative work in an all-abstracts show. Without figurative grounding, vibrations, rhythms and energies in each work emerge. The movement of the painter’s brush stroke comes into focus… paint is pushed or pulled across each canvas differently in every piece. Light through a lens is captured without knowing subject or place. Colors stand boldly; lines are drawn; patterns repeat.

"Past" Group Exhibit "ZODIAC" at Gabba Gallery in Los Angeles, Ca

Posted on June 4, 2014

ZODIAC
Curated by Jason Ostro and Phil Santos
May 2 – May 23, 2015
Artists Reception: Saturday, May 2, 2015, 7pm – 11 p.m.

The Gabba Gallery presents Zodiac, an exhibition inviting the viewer to experience a myriad of interpretations of an age old driving force. Arriving in the 2nd millennia BC, astrology is, arguably, part of the human collective unconscious. In its’ broadest sense, astrology is humanities search for meaning in the sky. The Gabba Gallery has curated its’ almost 2000 sq. ft. gallery, with this search for meaning and what energies drive us. In this exhibit, the coming together of the artists’ exploration is an experience inviting you to discover different interpretations as they give rise to, and touch the viewer’s collective unconscious memories. The curiosity is palatable, to see what artists such as Mike Christy, with his other-worldly painting style, Andrea LaHue aka Random Act, with her layered and nature based paintings and Frank Forte and his love for the cartoon, craft.
“We are so driven by astrology, the stars drive each of us differently. So in this show we are excited to see what moves our artists. There is a lot of passion when it comes to the zodiac. We are harnessing it in art, and couldn’t be more excited.” Jason Ostro, Curator

Zodiac Exhibit Flyer
The artists included in Zodiac were hand-picked by curators Ostro and Santos to explore and share their unique visions of this ancient, deep-rooted and sometimes controversial subject of astrology and the zodiac, and are as follows:

Amy Smith, Andrea Lahue, Benedigital, Bleep Bloop, Cody Bayne, Craig Tinsky, Daisuke Okamoto, Daryll Peirce, Espana Garcia, Frank Forte, Gabe Larson, Gianni Arone, Jeremiah Allen Welch, Jessica Ward, Jinx Art, Joey Rotten, John Park, Keith Dugas, Kimberly Kite, Kristi Bockrath, Laurene Alvarado, MaryAncillaMartinez, Mary Hanson, Michael Pukac, Michele Waterman, Mike Bell, Mike Christy, Moncho1929, Monty Montgomery, Paul Hogue, Rene Gagnon, Scott Holloway, Septerhed, Toshee, Vakseen, Valerie Pobjoy, William Zdan

Zodiac opens on May 2, 2015 and will be on view through May 23, 2015. A reception for the artists with DJ Sharper Image will be May 2nd at 7pm – 11pm

Past Exhibit “CAJA” at 423 West Gallery in Los Angeles, Ca. July 20th – August 17th, 2013

Posted on December 21, 2012

I had a painting in the group exhibit titled  “CAJA”, which is Spanish for “Box”. The exhibit is curated by Christopher Umana & Jennifer Mullins. Opening Reception was on July 27, 2013 6-9pm and the Exhibit will ran from July 20th through August 17th 2013.   Throughout history, humans have been enthralled and intrigued by the box.   It has been an object of curiosity even in its simplicity.  Examples include: Pandora’s box, coffins, gifts to one another, used for shipping later to be converted into children’s imaginary castle or fort, treasure chests, Jewish Dibbuk boxes.  However utilized, curiosity always gets the better of us and we must know what’s inside.

Posted on July 4, 2012

Pumped to have joined this amazing group of artists for the”Dia De Los Muertos” Group Art Show at “The Spot” in Barrio Logan. This event explored the rituals of the Day of the Dead that honor and celebrate the dearly departed relatives and friends. Death was considered a passage to a new life to the indigenous people of Mexico. It is believed that the spirits of the dead return to earth for one day of the year to be with their loved ones.

San Diego Entrepreneur Day 2012 — Free & Open to the Public

****Check the DAVE PERSUE AKA BUNNY KITTY IN BARCELONA video below!!!!

** Dave Persue “Bunny Kitty” joined  KREASHUN in painting a “LIVE” mural at the San Diego Entrepreneur Festival on September 22, 2012!!! It was so dope!!!

The first annual San Diego Entrepreneur Day Festival is “By, For and About Entrepreneurs™”.

“The Evolution of a Startup begins with the Entrepreneur™”.

It’s FREE and open for families to attend. Attendees must register to be entered into multiple raffles to win prizes, such as $100 Gift Cards from Microsoft and laptop computers.  Register: http://register.sdentrepreneurday.com/

Entrepreneur Day is a county-wide outreach and entertainment event providing many of the following benefits such as: learning how to launch a startup concept and growing an existing company/business, and areas related to: customer acquisition, new product/service education, future partnerships, investor introductions, inventors, mentors, as well as other interactive and useful experiences and activities for all who attend. Other opportunities include: match making in the areas of business and customer development, product demonstrations, market research surveys, talent search, internships, resume workshops, employment interviews, companies seeking distributors, and manufacturing and suppliers, and potentially military-veteran transition opportunities.

We are respectfully submitting our request to have the City of San Diego proclaim September 22, 2012 as “Entrepreneur Day”.  Get involved with us and our special guests from The Office of the City of San Diego, Federal Government and other VIPs to cut the opening ceremony ribbon. Let’s “Discover, Recognize, Collaborate and Celebrate Entrepreneurship™” – For one day, if all of the entrepreneurial communities can come together it will only help the U.S. economy grow stronger as a whole.

In the race to be “America’s Most Entrepreneurial City”, this event is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2012 – from 10AM to 5PM with an after event party from 6PM to 9PM. The venue is located in the popular downtown East Village Business District, San Diego’s largest eclectic urban neighborhood with trendy warehouse-loft style buildings, adjacent to Petco Park.  The East Village Association (501(c)3 Non-profit) is this event’s official community outreach partner.

San Diego Entrepreneur Day will inspire many people, including students, and bring confidence to those looking to take their business concepts to reality by meeting their peers.

Past Exhibit at BURLAP in Del Mar area of San Diego, Ca. on Sunday, July 22, 2012!

Posted on December 24, 2011

I exhibited paintings at BURLAP in Del Mar, California on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 9am until 3pm during the “BOOMING BRUNCH”. Introducing BURLAP, North County’s most anticipated restaurant opening and following up to acclaimed sister restaurant SEARSUCKER, from award winning BRAVO “TOP CHEF” finalist and one of the networks most talented celebrity chefs, Brian Malarkey and hospitality impresario James Brennan.

Burlap_Brunch0722

Located in the affluent coastal community of Del Mar, Burlap will follow in the footsteps of tremendously successful sister restaurant, Searsucker. Already a favorite of San Diego residents and visitors alike, Searsucker has been drawing an overflowing crowd since its first day open. Unlike Searsucker’s New American Classic Cuisine, Burlap’s offerings will be a hybrid of meat (raw, cooked and rotisserie), seafood, and bold sides with an Asian influence. Described in Malarkey’s playful tone as “Asian Cowboy” cuisine where the “West Eats Meat,” the menu will be divided into simple categories including: Land, Ocean, Rotisserie, Raw, Bowl, Stick, and Ours. Dishes will be paired with local craft beer, a selection of one-of-a-kind wines from all over the world, and handcrafted cocktails.

Many of you have had the pleasure to meet Samson, the Gallery AKA mascot, and you know how important Samson is to his many friends and family. Unfortunately, Samson has been diagnosed with Stage III Lymphoma cancer, which is deadly if left untreated. The good news is with proper chemotherapy treatment, Samson can recover from the cancer and live a normal life in remission. The not-so-good news is that the treatment is very costly, $7,500 to be exact, and we need some help to raise funds for Samson.

Save-Sammy-Bones-850x400

We are asking our close friends and family to join us in our efforts to raise enough money for treatment. Gallery AKA will host the “Save Sammy Bones!” event on Thursday, December 9th, (7 PM to 11 PM) and we invite you to attend. With a $20 entrance donation, you will receive free raffle tickets and be entered to win amazing prizes donated from local artists, restaurants, clothing designers, and Disconnected Salon. In addition to the raffle, we will hold an auction for fabulous products from participating local businesses. Did we mention there will be a hosted bar? Please come to the Save Sammy Bones! event and help save Samson’s life.

With your help, Samson can beat cancer. We appreciate your good-will, positive thoughts and prayers during this time.
Sincerely,
Samson’s Friends

I had a kick a** time throwing down and painting with the crew!! The W Hotel offers three different party atmospheres to get your groove on! In the Living Room DJ’s Ian Dunn & COCO spun up some Techno and Tech House to get the dance juices flowing, while in the Veranda DJ’s Tramlife and L threw down the best Hip Hop your ears will ever hear. Hold on a second, on the Rooftop, Birthday boy DJ Schugar along with LXK spun the very best Techno and Tech House with Special Live guest performances by Shani Ayanna & Evolved.
What kind of party would this be without some visual stimulus? Don’t worry, that was covered. Infusion artist’s Kiska Zilla, Kai Martin, Eric Evenson, and  Vincent Gordon will be on hand with fresh new artwork, plus artist Monty Montgomery joined on with  Stove and Jorge Rivas throwing down some wicked work themselves.

“Disrobed” at Gallery 5 in Richmond Va. was an amazing evening….. The show featured various artists from the Richmond area and all around. The Nude art exhibition brought a little flavor to your eyes and offered diverse visuals of human nature for you to absorb. I had four pieces in this show and look forward to working with Amanda Robinson and all associated with this event and beyond… Stop in and check out the spot…… Gallery5 provides an opportunity to exhibit an impressive array of works, with the space to house over 50 artists in one showing. This space showcases a different world of art, a place with an ever-changing soundtrack. Gallery5 encompasses what so many Richmond artists are looking for. “It is truly different: the art, the music, the whole feel.” Gallery 5 showcases the underground art of Richmond and the risqué work that intimidates. They want the dirty, the witty, the ever-changing, the respected, the disrespected, the opinionated, the diverse, the unwilling, the unintentional, and the beautiful work of Richmond.

"ABSOLUT Artini" mural painting in Charlottesville, Va.

Posted on June 22, 2006

ABSOLUT Artini had nine area restaurants/bars participating by creating “arty” martinis (artinis) to be entered into a competition. For one month , with steady support from print ads and solid promotion of posters, table tents, and postcards, the restaurants/bars will highlight their artinis for patrons to taste and compare. Also, nine local, living artists will each create original artwork in the tradition of the ABSOLUT ads.The artists include: Russell U. Richards, Fleming Cunningham Lunsford, Sharon Shapiro, Charles Peale, Lisa Beane, Monty Montgomery, Michael Fitts, Steve Taylor, Sean Samohey. These will be used for the print campaign and each will become a limited edition postcard quality art “coaster.” The art coasters will be sold at the participating restaurants (one artwork per restaurant) as small art and be used as a raffle ticket to be entered into the drawing for a GRAND PRIZE. The intention is to create an infectious buzz in Charlottesville with people wanting to compare artinis and collect coasters. The party for 400-500 people was filled with artinis, food, fabulous décor, amazing entertainment, ground-breaking art and dancing all night to the best music today! Here’s a shot of the Mural that I did for the Event!!!
